Servolution
[SURV-UH-LOO’-SHUHN]
1) To initiate a complete and radical change of a person’s life through simple acts of kindness for the glory of God.
2) God's Kingdom on earth as it is in Heaven.
3) A church revolution through serving.
We’re kicking Servolution 2010 into high gear with “Servolution Week” from March 27 – April 3.
Our core value is that we can express Christ’s love through simple acts of kindness. We’ve set an audacious and ambitious goal of 500 hours of service in a single week.
We’re challenging everyone to serve a shift at The Great Easter Bash AND at least one other Servolution project that week. Will you partner with us to bring Jesus’ example to our community?

| Help clean up the new Shutes Branch MTB Trail! | |
| When: | Saturday, 3/27 |
| Details: | The
Shutes Branch Mountain Bike Trail (ShutesBranchMTB.blogspot.com)
is located
at the intersection of Saundersville
Road and Needmore
Road, across from the Shutes Branch Recreation
Area. It is used by bike riders, runners and walkers everyday. The
trail was
built on top of an abandoned camp ground. Before the land was approved
for
trail use by the Army Corps of Engineers, it was often illegally used as
a
dump. Much of the land has been cleared, but there is still use a lot
of work
needed to make this area a nice recreational piece of property. We’ll
help clean up the trail and area for improved use by our community.
By participating in this project, you will be having a profound impact on the mountain bike community of Middle Tennessee. Nearly 2,000 people use the TennesseeMountainBike.com website to find trails, equipment, and other people interested in Mountain Biking. The service projects are discussed on the website forums and many people are already excited about what Friendship Community Church is doing. Please come out and show our community that we are willing to get our hands dirty in service. The work will involve pulling weeds, trimming branches, moving dirt and general clean up. We will meet at 9:00 AM and work until lunch. The Army Corps of Engineers will be providing lunch for everyone. Please contact Matt Clement (615.583.9806) if you have any questions. |

We will be giving out Easter baskets filled with goodies. Please feel free to bring your kids. The residents love to interact with children. Plan on 1 to 1 ½ hours. Please contact Debbie Neely (615.812.2393) if you have any questions. |
| Participate in a “reverse” Easter egg hunt! | |
| When: | Monday, 3/29 |
| Details: | We will be surprising
local retail workers in Mt. Juliet & Hermitage by thanking them for
the way
they serve our community and then delivering bags of Easter goodies. The
plan
is to make up at least 100 goody bags and then go and deliver them.
This is a
lot of fun and the last time we did it the merchants were really
surprised and
very appreciative. We will meet at the home of Jason & Tori
Williams (1188 Mount Vernon Lane,
Mt. Juliet) on Monday (3/29) at 5:30 PM to
make up the bags. We will order pizza to eat at the house, so you
don’t
have to worry about dinner.
We will need everyone to bring at least three bags of candy (individually wrapped pieces). Around 6:30 we’ll head out to distribute the goody bags. We should be done by 7:00. If you can only make it to distribute the bags, then just let us know. If you have children, please feel free to bring them along! Please contact Tori Williams (615.480.2108) if you have any questions. |
| Play at Providence Assisted Living Center! | |
| When: | Tuesday, 3/30 |
| Details: | We will all meet
at Providence Assisted Living (1020
Charlie Daniels Parkway, Mt. Juliet)
at 6:15 PM on Tuesday (3/30). First, we will run a game of bingo! The
prizes
will be little Easter baskets or bags with things that the residents can
use
like lotions, kleenex, sugar free candies. Then, we will have a cookie
and
juice break! We will serve sugar-free cookies and sugar-free juices. We
will
conclude the evening with a time of songs, which we've been told is
their
favorite time!
Here's what we need: 1) Some small Easter baskets or bags. These do not need to be pricey – just hit up Dollar General and put a few things in a bag. 2) Some sugar-free cookies and drinks. There are tons of sugar-free recipes online, and they are pretty simple to make. It's going to be a laid back evening of loving on some very precious people! Many of these people are not visited regularly and can really use some love and compassion. Even though it doesn't sound like we are doing much, please understand that this will be the highlight of many of these precious people's week! We’ll spend about 2 hours at the Center. Please contact Jenny White (812.319.5564) if you have any questions. |
